£110k for a 3 year old tractor with 4000 hours. Insanity I thinks to myself. But it is over 400hp.😲
As is the way with Facebook, mucho tagging of mates to " Get it bought ". As yet no one has bought it.🙄
We paid double that 30 years ago for a 170 acre farm. I've been left behind. But we knew that anyway didn't we ?🤣

Get it bought, you know you want to :D

I always feel I've been left behind/ missed out on earnings, you see others with flashy new things all the time, but in reality how much is paid for, I've had a quiet few weeks work wise, but at least I'm not worrying about the next monthly payments

Lot to be said for keeping a bit of money for a rainy day. (y)

As for the Massey. I'd enjoy using it for a couple of days..........then wonder what on earth I've done spending that on a fudging tractor.....

I've spent my working life working on vehicles and one thing I've never understood is expensive cars, a tractor or a wagon can earn it's keep (ok it's getting a bit questionable these days) but spending multiple thousands on expensive cars which in the majority of cases loose money as soon as you drive them out of the showroom, it's just to get you from A to B (or take the kids to school) is it just a status symbol or willy waving.
But then again my income has always been based on an hourly rate, and when considering purchases always think that's xxx hours work to purchase it

Or maybe I've read too many of your posts and I'm getting grumpy in my old age :D

Someone I work with has a £30k BMW, he tells me he bought it because he doesn't want breakdowns, but I pointed out a £500 would do exactly the same, £500 cars don't break down any more than anything else
Maintenance is what gets realibility, not throwing money at it

i told my mechanic i need to get at least another 2 years out of my ranger , he laughed and said it looks like I'm going to be busy then 😒
What age is your one? Mine is 10 this year but I feel the constant forest road miles are about to start taking a toll. 👨‍🔧🧰🔧⚒ Plus It’s on 160000 miles

Been looking for a while now to replace the elderly Trooper. Anything this side of the border is '000 more than down south. And will have been used for towing!
Want to buy a handy Ranger, been on light duties only, low mileage and well looked after too. 😇

its had some graft lately and the bodywork doesn't like bollards and the doors don't like windy days 🙄

Something went very wrong with ICE vehicles, in the late eighties and nineties myself and some customers all bought brand new vans, Astra's Transit's that sort of thing, from the day they left the dealers forecourt they never went back. I did all the servicing from day one, no worries about having it dealer serviced under warranty as they rarely went wrong, if they did it was a simple fix not worth the trip to the dealer. These were bought to work not once a week shopping trip, my own Astramax van did 209,000 miles never had a spanner on the engine only routine servicing, it had a couple of wheel bearings and one gearbox bearing, that could be done with the gearbox in situ as could a clutch change if needed, in less than an hour. It spent all it's life loaded up to near maximum weight with tools.
Today we have people buying new vehicles in some cases £50,000 maybe £70,000 and even upwards, vehicles so complex and unreliable that they daren't own them out of warranty. The basic engine principle of pistons, crankshaft, oil pump etc has been the same for years, if the manufacturers can't get the basics right, then as I said at the start, something has gone very wrong, A £70,000 plus, Range Rover should not be suffering major engine failure at 60,000 miles. Transit's for years probably the most popular van ever produced (maybe it still is) but people now say they wouldn't buy them because of reliability issues.
The emission regs have made engines far too complicated, unreliable components and technology, the internet is full of posts "how do I delete the Adblue system/EGR system/ Catalytic convertor/ DPF (or whatever)" again something went very wrong.
