Motorists

A motorist was detected driving at 112km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Main Street, Charleville, Co Cork during the first five hours of National Slow Down Day.

Reducing the speed limits won't stop this, anyone who's thick enough to do that won't give two hoots about any speed limit.

Rob Stewart, leader of Swansea council, said Mr Skates' "pragmatic approach" was "to be welcomed".

However, he said the Welsh government should "help us with the cost" of reverting back to 30mph roads.

Mr Skates added that he does not feel it would be fair to place that costs on local authorities, given that councils are making "really tough" decisions.

"I'm not going to say to councils that they need to find the money to make the changes," he said.

What have they done with the 30mph signs that they took down last week? Can't they re-use them? It's not like the roads themselves have changed since then.

What an absolutely disgraceful waste of taxpayers money.

It’s not a screeching U-turn; it’s a “pragmatic approach”. Where’s the apologies to hard-pressed taxpayers?? 🤬🤬🤬
